Strategy
Vatukoula Gold Mine's strategy is to develop operations at the 100% owned Vatukoula Gold Mine to restore production levels to the historic 100,000 ounces of gold production per annum. The Mine has been producing since 1933 and has to date produced seven million ounces of gold and two million ounces of silver. It was closed in 2006 and reopened by present management in April 2008.
Since taking control of the Vatukoula Gold Mine management has implemented a refurbishment strategy focussing efforts on developing the mine and mining techniques to facilitate efficient gold production. An underground mine requires efficient and reliable equipment at all stages of production. The Company is striving to achieve a high level of equipment usage.
Once the historic level of production has been achieved, VGM will investigate the potential to expand the mine beyond its current nameplate capacity. Exploration and drilling programs will be initiated on the surrounding licence held by the company.
